Linky Party with Donalyn Miller and Thinking of Teaching

Donalyn Miller was interviewed over at Thinking of Teaching, so a linky party has been created for us to answer the questions Ms. Miller was asked.  Here goes:

1) What is your favourite book (or series) from childhood?
My most favorite book from childhood is "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret" by Judy Blume.
2) What is your favourite book (or series) now?
Vampires have really caught my fancy these past few years, so this very adult vampire series are my go to books at this moment, Black Dagger Brotherhood.
3) What is your opinion of e-readers?
I have a Nook and I do love it.  I am able to ready so much more than I have in the past because I download books right when I get the whim to read them (con:  more $$ spent.....).  I try to find as many free downloads as I can, but those are usually quick reads, so I can't get into them as much as I would like to.  Those are the teasers to get you to purchase the rest of the series.  That being said, there is nothing like the look, the feel, the smell of a real book (I almost said "cotton" like the commercial).  I still purchase books so I can have them around me forever.  I also like to have teaching resource books in the flesh, so I can reference them.  The Nook also allows me to carry my books all at once, so this is a big plus.
4) Finish this sentence: "On Sundays I like to..."
read the paper, read, and take the day as it comes.  No promises, no regrets.
5) Describe yourself in 5 words!
Book Lover, Mommy, Happy, Peaceful
6) Hardcover or paperback? Why?
Both.  I try to hold out for paperbacks because hardcovers are so expensive, but I usually cave and purchase the hardcover.  The perfect hardcovers are books in a series, they look so good on the book shelf!
7) Coffee or Tea?
Tea.  Iced, very, very iced.

  1. I loved "Are you there God, it's me Margaret"! I forgot all about that book. I agree with you about teaching resources too, I think I will always buy those in real book form.
