Wonders First Grade Unit 4 Weeks 4-6 Focus Walls

It has been a while since I last blogged, but this summer has been a whirlwind so far.  Things are calming down and I have several blog posts in the works to keep you up to date on what's going on and information to get you through the long summer days.  I was able to work on my focus wall for unit four weeks 4-6 today and have uploaded it to TpT.  You can click on the pic below to head on over and check it out.  Those of you who know about the product will be happy to add this to your collection and the rest is on the way!

McGraw Hill Wonders First Grade Mini Focus Walls Unit 2 Weeks 4-6

I am happy to report that my newest mini focus walls for the first grade Wonders series are on TpT.  Unit 2 Weeks 4-6 are ready for you to put up in your classroom!  This reading series is filled with so much content, so I am finding that these focus walls are taking much longer to create than my past reading series.  I am trying to fit everything in, so you have your whole week at a glance.

I hope that you continue to use these focus walls to help with your planning and that your students are using them as well.  I find that giving them to parents is also very helpful!

Week 6 is very different from other series, since it is a wrap-up week where we focus on group projects.  I have included a page for this as well as the CCSS page.

As you know, this series has a multitude of tasks for us to teach and since it is new, many of us are a bit overwhelmed as to how to go about introducing the content to our students.  The layout of the unit focus walls will keep you on track, will keep your students focused, and will even help your parents.

McGraw Hill Wonders: First Grade Mini Focus Walls (Smart Start Weeks)

Like many of our districts, my district has finally chosen a new reading series that is aligned to the CCSS!  Hooray, Hooray!  This is a happy day!  We waited with baited breath for the announcement and although it hasn't been "announced", at least some of us were able to attend workshops where the information was spilled given.  

I will miss Houghton Mifflin, she was my friend for over 8 years...  My focus walls will remain in my TpT store for now. I am hoping there are not only teachers around Florida, but teachers all over the nation who will be using McGraw Hill for their reading series.

I like that it has everything in one place and EVERYTHING is online!  I don't need to bring home anything to help plan!!!  I couldn't start a new series without my mini focus walls, so I spent today creating the first set.

Houghton Mifflin Mini Focus Walls Themes 1-3 First Grade

I have posted my mini focus walls in my TpT store for themes 1-3.  These were a popular item as a freebie since last summer and now that I have purchased a license with DJ Inkers, I am able to offer them once again.  These are my life's work so far and I know many of us use the HM series, so I am sure you can use these.  Each theme is complete with all 3 weeks and a page of the CCSS for each week.  This is a great resource for your lesson plans and if you are like me, they also look great on your wall near your teacher led center.  My district "suggests" focus walls and this was the best way to put them up without taking up a ton of space.

Making Sense of Go Math (TpT Freebie)

I have had my own TpT store for years, but have never taken the plunge to place a product into my store.  Today is the day, my friends, so let's see what happens!

I posted about Go Math many moons ago (see that post here) and ever since then the requests for the PowerPoint have been off the chain.  Go Math came into being almost 3 years ago and school districts across the country are still trying to figure out what to do when it comes time for a new math adoption for their schools.  I am a huge proponent of Go Math, which only came after being properly trained on the series.  If after reading my previous post, you would like to share some of my thoughts and interpretations on the program, please visit my TpT store to download my  very first product (click the pic).

Houghton Mifflin First Grade Focus Walls (Themes One and Two)

Who knew that these had such a calling?  Not I, that's for sure.  I posted the back to school wall last night, checked TpT this morning and 1059 of you downloaded the product!  WHAT????  I am in total and complete shock, but before you lose momentum, here are the next 2 themes for your downloading enjoyment!


Some of you asked for Kindergarten and I don't know if someone out there has made these for our K friends...  I do know there is a 2nd grade focus wall creator, Mrs. Saoud, over at Primary Graffiti (just click and it will take you to her original post).


As each theme is posted, you will see that there is more content, since there is more to teach as the year progresses.  I don't mind if you use my format to create your own, they aren't copyrighted (the clip art is, so you can't use that), but I would like some credit, maybe you can include a small blurb that says "format used with permission from faithfulinfirst.blogspot.com".  These took me forever and for now, they are my life's work when it comes to making a product.
