Houghton Mifflin First Grade Focus Walls (Themes One and Two)

Who knew that these had such a calling?  Not I, that's for sure.  I posted the back to school wall last night, checked TpT this morning and 1059 of you downloaded the product!  WHAT????  I am in total and complete shock, but before you lose momentum, here are the next 2 themes for your downloading enjoyment!

Some of you asked for Kindergarten and I don't know if someone out there has made these for our K friends...  I do know there is a 2nd grade focus wall creator, Mrs. Saoud, over at Primary Graffiti (just click and it will take you to her original post).

As each theme is posted, you will see that there is more content, since there is more to teach as the year progresses.  I don't mind if you use my format to create your own, they aren't copyrighted (the clip art is, so you can't use that), but I would like some credit, maybe you can include a small blurb that says "format used with permission from faithfulinfirst.blogspot.com".  These took me forever and for now, they are my life's work when it comes to making a product.

You will download the entire theme, all three weeks are included, along with the CCSS.  Just click the first picture for each theme to head on over to my TPT store.  Please leave a comment if you download, thanks so much!

  1. I would like permission to use your format with giving you credit. I teach second and have for a very long time. I am very interested in the common core part of the focus walls. I have been using focus walls for some time but now with the common core everything changes. Diedra Jcotphoto@aol.com Thanks for all your hard work.

    1. Diedra,
Thank you so much for asking, and yes you can use them. If it is just the common core portion you want, I can email you that page and you can adapt it to 2nd grade. Just let me know.

  2. Could you tell me which publishing year for HM is this set? My district uses the 2003 version. I see some similarities so I downloaded it to check when I get back to school next week. Thanks for your work!

    1. This is the 2005 version. Themes 1-4 will have different stories, but the teaching content is exactly the same. Themes 1-5 will be the same stories and content.

  5. I love these! What do you do with them? Are they just an easy reference for you? Do you but them in a 3-ring binder to organize?

    Thanks for your hard work!

    1. Carrie, I laminate them and I put them up near my teacher led center. I use them as a resource for working on whatever each group is having trouble with that week. I also upload a copy to my class website, so parents have access to everything that we are learning that week.

  7. You are amazing! Last year I used what you had posted on your blog and absolutely loved using them. They are so resourceful and helps the students understand their weekly goals. (In my district the students need to be able to tell any adult that walks in the room, the learning goal for the lesson being taught at that time.) I have taught them to read off the Focus Wall. It works!!! It also helps me keep everything neat and organized. Thank you for all your hard work and time you spent in sharing this. I greatly appreciate every bit of it.
