The Why of Why I Have Been Gone For a Week.....

I am in pain, excruciating, mind-numbing pain.  This is not something that happens to me, I can take pain, so if I am not blogging, not working, not moving, the pain is bad, real bad.

So, you would think I know what it is that is causing me to lay in bed all day, everyday, while my kiddos are slowly forgetting everything I have taught them.  They think I am never coming back and why wouldn't they, after the principal, AP, 2 nurses, a wheelchair, a blood pressure machine, and the lady with the alligator purse came bursting into my classroom last Wednesday, they thought I was dying.  I wasn't, but I wanted to.

UTI they said, nope can't be, I don't have any symptoms.  Take the antibiotic, go back to work, you will be fine, they said.  Two days later, I cried the entire day at work.  My back was derailing and I couldn't do a thing about it. The cramps, they were back.  Everyone said kidney stones.  Ok, could be.

Come Monday, I had to be escorted out of work again and sent to the ER.  8 hours later, NOTHING!!!!  Sounds like kidney stones, your pain is indicative of kidney stones, but no stones.  Just infection, now in the bladder and the kidneys.  There might be sand in your kidneys.  Oh, good, that trip to the beach was well worth it.

One week later, I still cringe and cry.  I can't work until Monday and I can't do anything else.  I am writing this to get it off my chest and to ask for prayers from my blogging buddies.  I need the pain to go away. I don't know how to rest and not be a teacher.  I want to go back to my babies.

Thanks for listening to the ramblings of a Percocet filled mind.
Who looks like this when they have kidney pain?  Pretend this is me, this is what I look like right now, LOL.

  3. Oh my word!!!! Janine!!! You poor thing!!! I'm praying for you right now. I have no idea if this helps, but my husband had these symptoms and was misdiagnosed, as well. They thought it was gas, kidney stones, appendicitis, etc, and kept sending him away. It turns out he had a kidney infarction which is basically a heart attack in his kidney. He was in the hospital for a few days while they treated him and now he is good to go! They had to do a contrast CT scan to find it!
    Keep us posted!!

    1. Today is a good day, except I am once again watching lots of TV (that's not too bad) and planning for my return to my kiddos, whenever that will be. I am allergic to IV Iodine, so no contrast for me. I am scheduled for an MRI this week and that should tell us everything we need to know. Slipped disc, kidney stones, whatever it is, I hope it is over soon. Bed rest for a teacher is not restful at all! Much love <3

  11. How awful to hear this! Please take care of yourself and get well. Kidney pain is terrible, but try to get off those percocets as soon as possible. Your students will be taken care of and will be happy to see you back when you are ready. They are resilient, but will be missing you a lot

    1. At this point, kidney stones are ruled out, for now. Slipped disc is the new diagnosis, but who knows! The MRI this week will give us all the news. Thanks for your prayers and I am off Percocet, I think I only took 2. :)

  12. I'm sorry you are feeling so horrible, Janine. Prayers sent your way for respite from the pain--but more importantly for answers and an easy-to-fix diagnosis...
