Here is the Blockbuster Giveaway that you have been waiting for!  So many of my wonderful blogging buddies are joining me in celebrating my 400 followers.   61. My first day of school celebration is the activity I like most. We invite parents to partake in activities,a picnic lunch and meet the teacher. My favorite book...well I like so many but I would have to choose The Kissing Hand. The item that I need the most and can't live without...well once again there are many....but I'd say glue sticks. Can never have enough!

  88. My favorite school supply is chart paper for all my anchor charts. I try to do a different first day activity each year. This year I plan on having each kid make their own portrait showing their schema(a Pinterest find). I plan on taing them to the front of thir desks so we can refer to them throughout the year. I usually read some picture book promoting reading to launch read to self(Wild About Reading, Wolf!,etc.)

  90. My favorite first day activity follows the reading of Chrysanthemum. We take our names and make them beautiful. I show them a few quick lettering and scribble techniques and they take off. We use them as either nameplates for desks (I laminate them) or for outside work.

  142. My favorite first day of school activity is "Magic Playdough". I make playdough the night before, divide it up for the number of students, then make a ball for each kid. Then I stick my finger in the middle and squirt some food coloring into the impression. (This makes the coloring go into the middle, where it can't be seen.) When the kids get it, it looks like boring playdough, but when they start playing with it, it magically turns a new color! They love it!
